Time for a career review?

At Motus we often speak to lawyers, at all levels of qualification, who simply want to understand their current position within the legal market.

You’ve been so focussed on the day job that you want to know how you are doing compared to others. This might be in terms of career progression, responsibility, salary, client engagement or any number of other areas.

Sometimes it’s simply that you just want to be better informed about the legal market and what opportunities currently exist at your level and with your skills.

This is not necessarily because you are unhappy or want to look for another job. It’s more to do with having an objective career review so you can make the right choices for you moving forward.

As you can imagine, we spend a lot of time talking to lawyers. We’ve come across most scenarios. We talk openly, honestly and knowledgeably to give you the facts, as they are.

Often our advice is simply to stay put for the time being. We might give you some thoughts as to how to improve your progression chances within your own firm, even to actively speak internally about some of the niggles you might have shared with us.

Many of the lawyers we place are those that we had initial conversations with two, three or more years ago. It’s about making the right choice at the right time. For others it is sometimes very clear that it is well and truly time to move on to something new.

So, have you made time for your own career review?

If you’d like to speak confidentially to us about your career, your path within your current firm or the opportunities that are out there we’d be happy to help.

Simply contact either Charles Elderton (charleselderton@motusrecruitment.com) or Andrew Kelly (andrewkelly@motusrecruitment.com) to talk things through.
